Reviews and Ratings
If you want a quiet homely experience, this hotel is the place to stay. The rooms were clean and tidy with excellent views, but the pricing seemed overpriced for the quality provided. The bar & lounge next to reception offers a lovely breakfast experience with bay views.
I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The rooms were located at the top of the building, requiring a climb of at least ten flights of stairs as there was no lift, but they were festooned with stirring family equestrian photos, and I could hear the lulling sounds of the sea outside the windows. The service was excellent and very obliging, especially from Bruce at the Palace. However, parking was a bit of an issue, and I had to be careful with the parking meter. The location was good as it offered views across the bay, but it could be noisy due to the working port. I wasn't impressed with the dining options, so I chose to eat elsewhere to save some money.
The hotel is situated in a small town next to the ferry terminal, with excellent seafront views, despite some noise from the working port nearby. The rooms are tired and located on upper floors without a lift, but the service is exceptional with staff going out of their way to help. The dining experience varies, with some options offering excellent and fresh meals while others fall short, and the additional dining costs should be considered.
